Very Inappropriate

Yet kinda funny!

My kids have been saying some things lately that I have to share. Why would I share the inappropriate things that my kids say you ask? Because I can't stop laughing about them. And from reading everyone else's blogs it looks like everyone needs a good laugh.

~~~
You know the song "So What" by Pink? Well, it came on the radio the other day and I heard Princess singing it all the rest of the day. She only was singing the chorus. Here is her version "So what! I'm still a rock star. I've got my rock BOOBS and I don't need you ..."
~~~
Little man pooped his pants and took of his diaper (again) so I was giving him a bath. While getting him out I hear a strange voice in my house talking to someone. I got Little Man out of the tub to go see who it was. I walk back to see that my cousin that lives down the street was walking in my back door with Little Dude. Come to find out they had a pretty interesting conversation while trying to find me. I guess she walked down the street and saw Dude in the front yard and asked where his mom and dad were. He said that we were in the back yard. They walked into the back yard but we weren't there. So he said oh maybe they are in the house. So they started to head inside. When they didn't see us right away he told her "Well, maybe they're making out!"

~~~
We had some friends over the other night to roast marshmallows in the fire pit. While sitting there Princess somehow blurted out that she thought it was funny that mom and dad had the door locked to their room early one morning while they talked about her birthday! Then she yells over to me "Mommy, why would you need to lock the door to talk about my birthday? Can't you just whisper?" Ok this one she didn't really catch onto, but EVERYONE ELSE sitting there totally did!
Gotta love kids!
Focus
There has been a lot of that going on here lately. Looking past the things that are weighing me down and focusing on the things that are important in life. This last week has been an interesting one and I hope to never forget it. I haven't been more happy in months.
I wish I could just spit it all out and tell you why things seem so bright right now. Honestly, there really isn't just one thing. So many things have happened this last week that have really just lifted my spirits. Lots of family time, visiting with friends until the wee morning hours, playing on the water slide in the back yard, campfire confessions, impromptu BBQ, girl's night out to the movies, preschool graduation, and let's not forget the American Idol finale. (It's the little things people and yes American Idol makes me happy!)
I know this isn't going to last forever, it never does with us, but I am going to soak it all in while I can.
I want to know....what are you doing that is making you happy right now?
There is something crazy going on with my blog. Sorry for everyone that is getting the error. I have no idea how to fix it.
I am working on it though! So stay tuned!
Mission Organization
I am heading off a week long computer and TV fast. (with the exception of American Idol) The purpose is to catch up on some much needed organization projects that have been taunting me for months. I have a plan to get everything done! Wanna hear it? Sure you do! That is why you are here right?
Ok so some of you know that I took a Marie Ricks House of Order class a year or so ago and LOVED it. She had some great ideas that I have been wanting to try. I am not going to be stubborn or lazy any more! I am going to get what I can done this week. Here is a list of what I want to accomplish (many of the ideas came from the House of Order book)
#1 Make a plan for each room. What I want to accomplish and the ideas I have for organization.
#2 In each room get rid of close to half of the stuff. This means throwing it away, giving it away or storing it away. The philosophy behind this is the less stuff I have the less cluttered my house will be.
#3 Make small, easy and cheap adjustments to my organization or for the little things that annoy me. For example, I am pretty tired of the kids getting out of the bath and trowing their wet bath towel just anywhere. We don't have a place in the bathroom for them to each hang their own towel (thanks to my sister's family they each got the most adorable towel with their names embroidered on it for their birthdays!) I have a plan to hang hooks on the back of the door for them to be able to hang them up.
#4 Set up a system in each room that will best suit the needs of that room. This is to cut down on the time that is spent in that room. Marie ricks did an awesome presentation of this in her class. Let me do it for you now. First start by drawing a picture of your kitchen. Then take your pen and trace your steps in making a meal. If you have something that looks like this...
There are changes that need to be made. It could be as simple of relocating your pots and pans, or the utensils that you use when cooking. Maybe moving the spices closer to the stove. I plan on looking at every room to see if there is something that can be changed.
#5 Revising my "Brain Box" (again from Marie Ricks) My "brain box" is a box that holds every chore that needs to be done around the house. This includes things that are done daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly. It is a system to help you keep on top of things. Every day you go pull out the cards that are to be done that day and do them. The bathrooms get cleaned once a week, laundry gets done every day, the ceiling fans gets dusted once a month, and so on. If I could not be lazy and actually do it, it would be a great system. I am determined to make it work!
So there you have it guys! My plan. This is why I won't be around for a week. But for your entertainment I will be setting a post of some crazy things that have happened to us in the last little bit. One of which includes a little girl catching her hair on fire!
See you next week!
It broke my heart.
I think I found out the majority of why the Princess is running high so much in the last few days. I found one of her 15 carb snack bags on the floor today.....EMPTY. This could only mean one thing, someone ate it. I first asked her just to make sure. She came right out and told the truth. "Yes Mom, I ate it. I was hungry." My first reaction was to get mad, but I stopped myself. "Think of how she feels." I thought.
I asked her if she thought if that was a very good idea. She sat down on the floor in the hallway, put her head down and just said "It isn't fair Mommy."
I instantly started to cry (it is making me cry again just while typing it)
She is right it isn't fair!
I sat on the floor next to her. I grabbed her in my arms and we cried together. I told her how special she is and how proud that she told me the truth. We talked about how eating food without insulin can make her really really sick and that she needs to be extra careful. I promised that I will help it seem more fair.
What more can you say? This is one of the first times that she has rebelled (other than the time she drank a huge glass of milk after we got home from the hospital, but it was all new then. It wasn't rebelling.) I feel for her. I wish she didn't have to deal with this, but this was a trial she was given. She is entitled to break downs. Heaven knows I have had my fair share. I just wish I could make it better.
She admitted to doing it more than once. So my frustrations with diabetes really ended up being a sign that my little diabetic 5 year old was having a hard time. It still doesn't change how much I dislike diabetes. Seeing her struggle actually makes it worse.
After our cry we both felt better. Diabetes may not be what I wanted for her, but holding her close when she is crying? Now I will take that any day!
Diabetes...you stink!
****Warning: If you are tired of hearing about diabetes or if you get bored with all the diabetes jargon then just skip over this post. I will have something more interesting for you tomorrow.
I am frustrated with diabetes.
When am I not? (I knew that was what you were thinking!) The Princess has been running really high for the last 2 days. She doesn't have any signs of being sick or stressed or anything else that factors into being high. I am pretty sure that there needs to be a dose change to her carb ratio again. Right now it is 1/4 unit : 8 carbs. I am thinking it needs to be somewhere around 1/4:6 or maybe even 5 carbs. How knows. But what I DO know is that it is annoying!
She starts swimming lessons tonight. This will be interesting to see what happens. I set it up to be right after dinner so she will have less chances of having issues. We will see how it goes though. This is the first "sport" she has been into since she was diagnosed. Hopefully she won't focus on her diabetes and just fun. She can leave the stressing up to me.
Bed time is an issue again with her numbers. I don't really know what to do. If she is low before bed and I give her 15 carbs to bring her up she ends up being WAY too high by 2 or so. Then if left alone it is still high when she wakes up. If corrected she goes way low again. I have tired a few things. First, giving her less carbs. She still goes high. Second, leave it alone. Guess what happens when I leave it alone? She STILL goes high. What is the deal here? Is it the meal dose that is doing this to her? Oh the guessing game. Too bad I feel like I can't win here.
Her monthly appointment is next week. This will be very interesting. We are making a family trip to the doctor with her to have the boys tested for a study her doctor is doing. They will be tested to see what their chances of getting diabetes is. I have been worried about my little man at times to see if he is showing signs. The highest reading we have gotten with him is in the 170's. It will be good to know what the test shows.
Diabetes why can't I figure you out?
Family Adventure - The Mayan
(Holy crappy picture! Sorry! I didn't take it! But it gives the general idea for those that don't know what the cliffs, waterfall, and trees are like there.)
We took our family adventure a little early this week again. We went to the Mayan Restaurant. When we bought our car last year we received free meal coupons and they were expiring soon so we thought we would use them. Since I had 10 of them we invited our friends to go with us.
This really turned out to be quite the adventure too. It started with Dude's baseball game at the park. My hubby got stuck in traffic and wasn't going to make it to the game. Not a big deal he planned on meeting us at the park with our friends so we could just head out from there. Oops! I forgot Princess' insulin. KIND OF need it! So my hubby ran back home while Cherie (my friend) all the kids and I headed to the restaurant.
We got a table that has 9 chairs crammed up to 2 TINY tables. There was NO way we were all going to fit. We had 5 kids there for heaven's sake. So I asked the waiter if we could move to a different table. He told me NO! I wasn't happy. We finally got him to move over another table to ours so we would have more room. This was just the beginning of an interesting evening.
When they started the cliff diving show we had to move away from the table to see around the big tree. Everyone got up and moved, but I found a spot close to our table. I was standing there with Little Man watching the show. When some RANDOM lady walks up next to our table to watch the show. She plops down her purse and started to take pictures. No biggie. Until I watched her turn to the basket of chips on OUR table and helped herself to some!! She even dipped it in our dip!!! REALLY! I looked at her and said in a rude sarcastic way "Hey! Why don't you help yourself to our chips and dip! GEEZE!" She just looked at me like I WAS THE CRAZY ONE and said "Oh sorry." I couldn't believe it! Who has the nerve? Even if we were done WHO walks up to an empty table and eats off someones plate? Not only that EVERY TABLE gets the complimentary chips and dip. SHE HAD HER OWN AT HER OWN TABLE! I was in shock! It provided laughs for the rest of the evening, but I still can't believe it!
So even though there were a few hiccups in the evening it will still be a night that I will never forget! That is what this is all about anyway right?
Today, I am not laughing!
My Little Man is a little turd.
First of all he got into my purse. When he brought me something from it, I went and cleaned it all up and put it up high. I shortly realized that there were a few things missing like
my debit card
my cash for tithing
my check book
I looked all over the house but couldn't find them anywhere! Well, I kind of forgot about it until I went to the grocery store today to get a few essentials. I unloaded the cart at the register and reached into my purse to get my card and like getting hit with a 2 x 4 I remembered. I had to pack the kids in the car, drive home, get a new book of checks, drive back to the store to get my stuff. I was trying to be patient.....but everyone knows I am not a very patient person.
Fast forward to this afternoon. I was on the phone with my hubby...."Hi honey, the jeep got impounded today for parking in a parking lot that is apparently made to NOT park in. I just got it back. I am on my way home now." (an arm and a leg later) I walk into the kitchen where Little Man was just 2 minutes before. He wasn't there! "Honey, I can't find Little Man. I will call you later!" I started to look everywhere. I couldn't find him. I started to look outside. NOWHERE! I was panicking! The phone rings "Hi! I have a little visitor down here. He was knocking on my door. Just thought I would let you know!" He had walked to the end of the circle to go play with the kids. No surprise he went there. That is all my kids favorite place to be! But still totally unexpected!
I hate it when toddlers learn to open doors!
Thank Jen for saving him!
Tis the Season for Baseball
A few years ago my dude was playing around with a baseball and a bat in my sister's back yard. He would hit the ball almost every time it was pitched to him. For lack of better words I was blown away.
He has been wanting to give it a try so we got him on a team this year. He has games once a week and from what I can tell he really enjoys it! His very first practice he was sliding into bases, catching the ball and throwing it to where it needs to go. And once up to bat he does a great job!
These are pictures from his game last week. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for coming to cheer him on! Sorry all the pictures have the chain link in them. I was being a good mommy and not crowding the field. (aka hovering over my boy)
We have really been enjoying all this. It is so rewarding for him to find something that he likes and something that he is really good at. Plus it is super cute to see all the kids pile on top of the ball, and running the bases! Gotta love little kid sports!
