They turned out better than I thought!

The baby is getting two bottom teeth. It was no wonder that he was grumpy. He wouldn't let my take his picture in his cute hat. Oh well, he can look cute no matter what!

Well there is just one.

Oh boy!

I know that it isn't Monday yet, but I have done a crappy job at my goals already. I feel really bad about it. I want so bad to accomplish these things and I feel that I am falling off the wagon only after a few days.

I tried to take my kids pictures tonight for our Christmas card and I really think that all of Gardner Village now knows how impatient I am. My poor kids tried at points, but they really weren't being very good. I tried to be patient, I really did. But then we were there longer than 20 minutes and I think with every step I lost it even more. I was determined though. I had purchased new clothes and hats for them to wear. I had a vision and they looked so cute! Well, as any good photographer knows that the more you push a kid the less willing they are. (Maybe this is why I feel that I am not so good.) My vision never happened. I got some ok poses in just ok lighting and left with a crappy attitude.

The goal of keeping the house clean, getting the kids to bed on time and eating better has been going a little better, but no one would know it. My house is still a mess. I have tried to keep it clean but I just can't keep on it. The kids fell asleep before dinner so they are passed out on the couch. The will wake up in an hour or so and be hyper I just know it. Then there is eating better, well I can say that I have MADE every meal. I even made something in the crock pot today. I guess that is a big step.

A little depressing, I know. I am open for suggestions, and thoughts. I know I need to give my self some credit, but I hate the feeling of failing just as I am getting started.

Goals

I have been thinking lately that I need to set some goals for myself. I have had so many things going on and time management has never been one of my strong points. I am feeling overwhelmed with all that needs to be done, so maybe a few goals are my solution.

Any time that I have made a few goals for myself all I have ever done is made a mental note of them and a few weeks later tried to evaluate how I have been doing. Then shortly after I give up. This time I will be different. Some of these goals will really make life easier for me so I really want to stick to them. I thought that posting them will make it fresh on my mind every time I think about my blog. So here they are:

I got out of the shower the other morning to my little princess trying to burn down a tree in the back yard with some matches she found. This gave me an idea for two goals.

#1 I want to be dressed and ready for the day every morning before the kids wake up. That way we will not have any catastrophes while I try to shower. And I will hopefully feel better about my appearance and not be caught in any embarrassing moments in my jammies anymore.

#2 Guess it is time to clean out all closets and drawers and organize a bit. I didn't even know there were matches in the drawer for princess to find. It is always nice to be able to find what your looking for anyway.

I have realized that my little dude has inherited his bad temper from me. I am so bad at not resorting to the same fits as him when he is in trouble. This totally needs to stop on my side and on his. So my goals here are:

#3 I need to be a better example to my family. Trying to control my temper, and being slow to anger is a must around here.

#4 Praying to have guidance with my parenting skills and patience. More personal prayers as well.

#5 Spending more time with the family instead of worrying about all the things that need to be done and making sure that no matter what my kids and husband know that I love them.

My house has been an out of control mess. I feel that I just have so much work to do and cleaning the house is always last to get done. We have been eating crappy and we haven't been getting enough sleep. So the normal stuff like:

#6 Trying to clean the house and have dinner ready for when Daddy comes home, then getting the kids to bed at a decent time every night might help so I can work for an hour or so each night.


Well there they are. I think that each Monday for a month or so I am going to give myself a report card and post it here. If you know me or see me each day, or feel that you need to comment, please do. I am so hard on myself that I end up missing the little things that might help me feel better. Any ideas will help too!

For those that asked...

Some of my friends from my old neighborhood have asked to see more pictures of my house. You can see some older posts here, here, here, and here of pictures of some of the rooms and get info on what we did to them. But the outside was a big project all in itself, so this is a good time to actually post the before and after pictures of the outside.

As some of you know, my house was pink when I bought it. Yes, really pink! No, this picture doesn't do the color justice. I really hated it, but along with the rest of the house, I knew it had potential. So as soon as the weather got warm we took care of that! Here is the before picture.


So here is the after. I actually forgot to take the after until today, so forgive my crafty Halloween decorations. It looks SOOOO much better now, and I love it!


We ripped everything out of the flowerbeds and started all over. The lawn in the front needed some extra love and care, but the entire back yard which is somewhere in the range of 6500 square feet or so had to be dug up, ripped out, bulldozed, and many many more things. Early this summer we redid it all and laid new sod, put in a trampoline, and a swing set. Next spring we will start on the garden and the patio. It has been a HUGE project, but it was REALLY needed.

Our Family Room Addition

We went to Idaho last week and came home with this. We have lived in this house for almost a year now, and we have talked about what type of mantel we were going to build and how to do it forever now. I am very happy with the final look! It was made by my hubby and my father in law (with a little help from little dude too). They did an awesome job! I love they way that it just completes my room. I have been dreaming of what I am going to put on it now, but all I can think of is Christmas stuff. Can't wait for Christmas now! Hopefully Santa won't hit is head!

I found this little thought today and I loved it so much I thought that I would share it. Rumors are something that are so hurtful to so many people. Once you say something without knowing truth, damage is done, and is really hard to repair.

So much like her mom

Yes, she is like me because of her love of chocolate, and getting it all over her face (as you can see) but this picture shows much more too. When I was a kid I knocked out all 4 of my front teeth. They were missing forever! Well, little princess was running through my bathroom to hurry and go potty, and she tripped over the cord to the iron. She fell face first on the tile floor and got pretty beat up. This picture was taken a few days after it happened, so it doesn't look too bad. She loosened her tooth, and got a bloody nose, a bruise on her chin, a chip in her tooth, bruise gums, cuts on her lips, and her gums and her lips were pretty swollen for a few days. She seems fine now, but we are still unsure if she is going to loose her tooth. It is still a little loose but we are hoping that it will just tighten and not turn black.

I felt so bad for her though. She was so sad, and I can't imagine how painful that was. I guess if she looses just one tooth it will be ok. It is still better than 4!

I can't stop laughing!

A few thoughts from Mommy Going Crazy

#1 It is a little sad and slightly embarrassing when my little dude went and got his friends from down the street to bring them home and show that his mom finally went grocery shopping. I walked into the kitchen to hear "Look, there is food in here, and even here. There is just so much food."

#2 Next time I prepare a little slide show for the young women I need to make sure that ALL the pictures and even the music is saved on my laptop, and not try to run it off the network. I didn't even think about it since I had saved the project on my laptop.

#3 Always be prepared and looking my best for every trip to the library. I couldn't have picked a worse day to take my kids to the library in my pj's still. I saw 4 people that I knew in the 15 minutes we were there. Including a friend that I haven't seen in years.

#4 Never eat two pieces of really yummy wedding cake before dinner. I have a really bad headache now.

#5 When the kids are bugging me to get in the bath at 6:00 they really are tired and they don't just want to play. I can't remember the last time they were ready for bed and asleep this early.

#6 When my baby is constipated try faster to put a diaper on after cleaning the small attempts at pooping.

#7 Daddy really would look funny as a sandwich for Halloween just like the little princess thinks.

#8 Now that we have so much food in the house, maybe the princess will stop walking to the neighbor's house and asking for a bag of marshmallows.

#9 Getting the heater fixed might actually make it easier to get out of bed in the morning. As it stands I poke one foot out and pull it right back in and hide farther under the blankets.

#10 Now that my hubby thinks that I have painted a nice picture of our white trash lifestyle of not showering, not grocery shopping, a broken heater, and such you can send donations here.

It's about time!

Since the baby was born we have had some MAJOR problems with our insurance company. They said that we didn't add him within the 31 days after his birth, when in fact it was only two weeks after his birth. My hubby went online to add him and there was a computer glitch that we didn't find out about until all the claims had been denied. Since then we have sent in TWO appeals, and have spent the last several months stressed about it all.

Well I got a letter in the mail today saying that they did see the attempt to add him shortly after his birth. So they are now changing the effective date to his birth date, and all the claims should no longer be denied! HOORAY! I have to say that I took one big deep breath after I read that letter! What a relief!

6 Months Old! Already!

I have been meaning to post this since Friday, but some things came up (I will explain in a little bit) so I am just getting to it now. The little man turned 6 months old the other day. He even had a doctor's appointment that day and got his shots. Two in each leg. What a trooper he was. He weighs 17 lds and 3 oz. which is the 34% for his age. He is also 26 inches and that puts him in the 23%. The doctor says that he looks great, but we do have a little concern. The other day I was feeding him then all of the sudden he tensed up his entire body and started to shake. He didn't seem like he even knew that he was doing it, but it sure scared me. I thought at first that he was having a seizure. I wasn't sure what to think about it though after that until it happened two more times in the last week. So at the doctor's appointment I was told to time it next time it happens and if he keeps doing it a couple of times a week we have to take him in to see a Neurologist. I really hope that it is nothing and that we don't have to worry about it anymore. I will keep you posted though.

He still isn't rolling over. I really don't mind though. I can still put him on the couch and on the bed and not worry too much. He likes his food finally. He really likes sweet potatoes and squash, not peaches though. Just like his big sister, I couldn't get her to eat peaches either. There is a little problem with that too, he hasn't pooped in almost 2 weeks. Just in the last few days it seems to bother him. I have tried almost everything. Hopefully he will get over this soon too.

I totally love to just sit and hold him. He loves to cuddle and loves to smile. Man, that kid can smile! He can really make my day. He is a tough kid when his big brother comes around, he gets squished, pulled, sat on, and anything else that little dude can think of. He only cries some times.

Well, I tried to get some cute pictures of him on Friday, but he was so busy watching the other two play. So here are some funny pictures of him watching the world around him.

It is so hard to get a cute picture of the three of them, but this one makes me laugh so hard every time I see it! I love it! It is so real!

So there you have it. 6 months! Wow that time has flown by!

Just a little update on what is going on with me.... I got an early birthday present, my hubby got me a laptop. I love it, now that things are set up and working right on it! It is so fun! It will be so much better for me to get things done. Happy way early birthday present to me!

So Stinkin' Funny!

I have seen this sign so many times before and I get a big laugh. When I was taking pictures of my nephew today we stopped by the candy store where this sign hangs in the window. Since I had my camera in hand, I just had to take the picture!

Blogger is a 4 letter word!

Well a 7 letter actually, but I think you get the point! It looks like blogger lost my really cute template that I had. Now I have to find the time to get a cute one. I don't really like this one, but it is better than what was on there after it was lost. Even my flickr badge is lost so I will have to go redo that. Also my counter is gone. I won't know who is checking up on me anymore. Maybe all my blogger friends will leave and I won't even know it! I will be left here talking to myself. I will be no more.....ok a little too over board. Anyway, be patient, cuz this blog is going to look crappy for awhile!

I wanted to post something better than how grumpy I am at blogger, but I have spent too much time trying to fix it. I guess it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Foul Ball

On Labor Day we took the kids to the Salt Lake Bee's afternoon baseball game. We where there for about 30 minutes or so and we were already thinking about leaving. It was almost 100 degrees and the seats were so hot. I swear it felt like we were sitting on a BBQ grill. There was NO shade at all and we were all sweating like crazy. Also there was a really loud guy behind us that every time he would yell something it would scare the baby and make him cry.

While we were trying to decide to leave someone hit a foul ball. It went right up into the air and was heading down my direction. Since every time I go to a baseball game I am paranoid that the baby is going to get hit with the ball, I instantly laid over the car seat so he wouldn't get hit. Well, the guy on the row right in front of me caught the ball. THANK goodness! We then decided to leave, it was a little too close for comfort. (Just to add a little side note, a few years ago we were at a Bee's game with my family and my sister got hit in the hip by a foul ball. She had the biggest bruise that I have ever seen. Hence the reason I am so paranoid.)

We packed up the kids and left. We were waiting at the intersection in front of the park and right over my head by only a few feet came another foul ball. Totally out of the park! It actually hit the bus in front of me that was trying to turn right, and rolled to my feet. My hubby said that it came really close to hitting me. I picked up the ball and just laughed. Who comes close to getting hit TWO times in one baseball game with a foul ball? We weren't even there an hour! Man, I am glad we left!

So now I have a foul ball that will always remind me of how lucky I am to not have been knocked out at a baseball game, or on the street corner for that matter. (I also have Holly's cool lens that I was able to use to take a really cool picture of it!)

Real Food

We fed the baby rice cereal tonight for the first time. I am not really sure that he liked it. He didn't eat very much until he started to cry. This shouldn't be a surprise to me, the older two kids never really liked it either. I plan on trying again tomorrow, and in a few days trying it with apple juice. Maybe he will like it then. I did catch some pretty funny pictures of him though.

Breaking the Addiction

My name is Mommy Going Crazy, and I am addicted to shopping at Kohl's. I realize this addiction, and I am currently working on breaking it. It has been 1 month since I have purchased anything at Kohl's. Be proud, VERY proud. This means that in the last 3 years or so since there has been a Kohl's here in Salt Lake that the longest I have ever gone without shopping there is one month.

I have one problem though. In exactly 1 hour and 15 minutes it is the beginning of a new month. I have a gift card for Kohl's that is burning a hole in my wallet. My hubby needs new work shoes, my niece is having a birthday on Sunday, and I am having withdraws! I have been holding off for days just to say that I went one month, but I am dying to go. So what do I do?

Tomorrow we will have to see if I have any will power at all. Wish me luck!

Feeling a little better

Thanks to my sister who directed my to this talk in the Ensign. It did make me feel better about myself. My sisters are so awesome!

Confidence????

It may seem that things are always great here in the thoughts of mommygoingcrazy, but those that know me best know that I just don't post the bad stuff for the internet to read. I have had something on my mind for some time now and I just can't seem to shake it. I am hoping that by posting it here I can clear my mind a little bit.

I have always had this small problem with not giving myself enough credit. I look at myself as a mother and always think that I could do a better job, or even that in the short lives of my kids that I have already failed in teaching them in somethings. It doesn't stop there though. As a photographer I always think that I am not good enough, and I get jealous of people that are just starting out and are way more talented than me. After every photo shoot I look at some of the pictures and just want to give up because they are not as good as I had hoped.

In almost everything that I have ever tried playing guitar, singing, photography, and any other type of art that I have tried to pick up on, I have given up at some point because I totally lack confidence in myself. I see other people that are better than me and I feel as though I can't compete.

I know that I will never be perfect. I know that if I love to do something that I shouldn't compare myself to someone and just give up. I know that as a mom my faults are things, that in some ways, can be worked on and repaired. I know that my kids still love me and that I haven't really failed. But even though my brain knows these things, I am not sure that I have convinced the rest of me.

I try really hard every day to remember my late friend Kirsten's advice to "not look at other people and think they are better than you. They are all looking at you and thinking that if you can do it so can they. Behind closed doors things are different, and the people that you seem to think are perfect really are not what you think." (Man do I miss her!) The hard part about it for me though, is not really wanting to be like other people because I am truly happy for other people that are wonderful moms or talented and artistic people, I just need to find how I can just be happy and proud of myself and what I can do. How does someone build confidence? How do I get past the point of wanting to give up when I feel like I am not good enough?

Neglected no longer!

I know, I know, I have been neglecting my blog, and my blogger friends. I am SOOOO sorry! I didn't realize that it had been over a month since my last post. Time really does go by fast when it is summer, and you have 3 kids. I will give an update as to what is going on here though.

First the little man is a little over 4 months old. He loves to smile and is starting to grab onto EVERYTHING! He is still such a good baby and really puts up with a lot from his older brother. I took this picture of him almost a month ago, but he hasn't change much in a month. Maybe a little bit more hair, and a few more chubby rolls. He is getting big fast! He giggles a little bit, but it takes a lot for him to do it. He is so content with just sitting back and watching what is going on around him.

Next is the crazy older two. They both started school last week. It is so hard for me to believe that they are old enough to write their names and stuff. Little princess writes her name B-O-O so my sister and I have decided that she does look a little like Boo from Monster's Inc. and she can also be a boob when she doesn't get what she wants so we think it fits here well! She is learning SO fast and absolutely loves school.
Little dude likes school too, but he thinks that playing with his best friend Nathan that lives down the street is the most important thing in the world. I am grateful that he has found a great best friend though! He is doing great in primary (finally) and hasn't made his teacher cry in weeks. Every day he acts more and more like his dad by playing a joke, wanting to dig in the yard or just by some of the things that he says. He too is growing up fast.

My hubby has a lot going on too. He just back from a week long business trip to Chicago. I am SO happy to have him back! When he got back home he was able to baptize my nephew. It was so awesome to see! Then the next day he was called to the Elders Quorum presidency, then he went to work that next Monday and was offered a new position. So he will be starting at a new branch this next week as the Branch Manager. He will be busy, but all of these things will be great experiences for him.

Then there is me. I feel like I have been really lazy most days, but every day there is still lots to do. I have been slowly working myself back into taking pictures. I wanted to take it easy this season because of having the baby, but I started to miss it. I have worked with my friend Holly for so long, and I still plan too, but I started to have things set up for myself because people have been asking me aside from what I do for Holly. So I came up with a business name, and set up a proofing site, and I have even booked a few weddings. If you are interested in seeing my proofing site here it is. There isn't too much there yet, I have so much to process, but it is still a little fun. I even set up a Lasting Moments Photography blog, but haven't done anything with it yet. Maybe soon I will get to it. I have also been working on so many things for the Young Women. I love my calling, and I love working with the girls, but man do they keep me on my toes! So pretty much between those few things and getting Little Dude to school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and getting Little Princess to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, then having the baby to look after I have been a little busy. So I hope you now all know why it has been so hard for me to post. I will make a little more of an effort though, I really miss hearing from all my friends!

When you need to smile

When you are having a day like I have had today this picture is guaranteed to make you smile. In fact whenever I really need a pick me up all I have to do is look at this little guy. He will smile like this and it makes things so much better. What a sweet little man he is.

Memorial Day Weekend

Here it is the 4th of July and I am posting pictures from Memorial Day. Sorry, I am slowly catching up.

Well we spent that weekend in Irwin, Idaho. (South Eastern Idaho). We stayed with Grandma and Grandpa and we had SO much fun. This trip we were able to go on bike rides, take the kids fishing, ride the horses, and see their neighbor's baby ducks and chickens. The kids had a blast!

A few things going on

- The baby is almost 3 months old. He weighs in at a hefty 13lbs 11oz's. He smiles really big and is still the most amazing baby ever!!

- My hubby had all last week off work he tore out the entire back yard and laid over 5000 square feet of sod just in the back yard this last week. It looks awesome! Pictures will come soon.

- We caved and bought the kids a trampoline. We love it!

- I had Youth Conference with all the youth in our ward this last week. It was SO much fun!

- Little Dude felt it necessary to cut his own hair and his sister hair. What a day! What a mess!

- We took a trip to Idaho a few weeks ago! I have to cutest pictures to post. So stay tuned for that too.

Daytrip to Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort

It has been forever I know! I thought that posting pictures would be a fun way to get back into things here on this blog. I have tons though. I am in love!

I bought these shoes over the weekend and I just have to share with the world that I totally LOVE them! They make me feel rebellious! Just kidding! I just think they are so stinking cute and not to mention comfy!

Someone upstairs trusts me.

I have SO many pictures and stories to post, but I need to find time time get to it. But I did want to sit down and post this thought.

Yesterday at church I received a new calling. I am not the Young Woman's Secretary. I am so excited! I love serving the Young Women, but I would like to direct you to a post that I wrote a few months ago after this 16 year old girl's brother committed suicide. I expressed feelings of being able relate to these girls or not. They are faced with some pretty serious challenges and I fear that I just can' t relate and feel how they are feeling and maybe miss an opportunity to help.

I feel today that someone upstairs must really trust that I can handle this new calling and that somehow I can find a way to connect with them. They are in a very delicate time in their lives and this is the time that anyone can make one small difference. I have been trusted to help them to feel the spirit and be there for them.

My goal is to just try my hardest to help them in any way that I can,. Even if I don't know how they feel, I can help turn their hearts and thoughts to a man that if he can trust me, then he can help anyone.

I have been tagged!

I know, I know! It has been FOREVER since I have been in the blogging world. The kids are keeping me pretty busy! (More on that later.) When I was able to get on the computer yesterday I noticed that my dear friend mommyoffour had tagged me to write 8 things about me that are odd or unknown. I spent all night thinking about it and here is my list.

#1 Some people know this about me, some don't. I really, really, really like to play poker. I love to watch it on tv and I love the poker nights that we have with our friends. I don't play for money, we just have a poker chip set and we play until someone wins. For the record, I don't like to gamble, I just like the game.

#2 When I was in High School I really wanted to be radio DJ. So I applied to be an intern at a local radio station. I got the internship and worked for them the entire 3 years of high school. I have some pretty great memories of working for them. I got asked out on a date by the lead singer for 7 Mary 3. I hung out with 80's rocker band Queensryce for 3 days. I even have a shoe box full of concert ticket stubs. It was a great experience working for them.

#3 When I am hanging up the clean clothes I have a strange talent for picking out the exact number of hangers I need without having to count. I actually shock myself every time.

#4 When I was little I was hanging my head out the car window and hit my front teeth on the window. My teeth fell out and I was missing my 4 front teeth for about 3 years.

#5 When I am cleaning the house I always turn my ipod onto Johnny Cash. I sing really loud while I clean and the kids dance all over the house too. Despite all the rock and roll that I have been known to listen too over the years, Johnny Cash is my favorite artist to listen to.

#6 I am obsessive about the phone. I can't just let the phone ring without answering it. I want to know who is calling and what they wanted if my hubby answers the phone. As soon as I walk in the door I check my messages and the caller ID.

#7 I love to shop at Kohl's. This is my favorite store. Every time I go in I can find a cart full of things to buy. I would even consider this an addiction (I think that my hubby would be willing to vouch for that too). My entire wardrobe is from there and so is my hubby's and my kids.

#8 I hate scrap booking. I gave it a good, honest try but I am really bad at it. For that I hate it. I would much rather put the pictures in a picture album. I like arts and crafts, but I can't scrapbook to save my life.

Now that Mother's Day is over I can finally post these pictures. We had them taken at the end of April for our mothers for Mother's Day. I just have to say thanks to my friend Holly for doing such a fantastic job, and for being so patient with us!

Blessing Day

It has been too long since I have posted. There are so many things that are keeping me busy. I have been meaning to post these pictures for some time now. On May 6th was little man's blessing day. It was such a beautiful day! It was so much fun to have family over, and he just looked so dang handsome in his outfit that his aunt made him. (Thanks Sis!)

I can't believe how big he is getting! He is smiling so much now and I love it! What a cute little guy!
